+Hymn: I Will Call Upon The Lord TFWS 2002

Call To Worship Liturgist

Liturgist: When we long for the special effects we think life should offer: All: it is enough, for us, that God comes in a soft, summer shower. Liturgist: When we our hearts are cracked by the drought of doubt: All: it is enough, for us, that God opens up the fountains of faith for us.

Liturgist: When our senses are deadened by the sales pitches of our culture:

All: it is enough, for us, that God wraps us in the silence of grace.

The Gospel Reading: Luke 4:21-30 Liturgist

Response after Reading Liturgist

Leader: The Scripture of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Amen.

+Hymn Into My Heart TFWS 2161

We Offer Our Prayers Together

Call to Confession Liturgist Liturgist: The geography of sin is an arid wasteland, but God provides springs of living water to renew and restore us. Let us drink deeply of Christ as we confess our sins before God and one another.

Confession Liturgist All: Merciful Savior, we are all too familiar with the wilderness. Like Elijah, we know what it is to be bone-weary; to feel discouraged, even hopeless; to want to run away from responsibilities and needs that never end. What we fail to realize is that our own forgetfulness paves the wilderness path: we forget to be grateful for your many blessings. We forget to serve in your strength, not our own. We forget to pray first, rather than after we've exhausted our own wisdom. We forget to eat and rest and listen. We forget that you are always with us, that you care about us in our pain and weariness, that your grace is sufficient for the demands of this day. Forgive us, Lord, for our sins of forgetfulness and restore to us the peace and joy of your presence. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Assurance Liturgist Liturgist: Drink the living water that Jesus offers: forgiveness, mercy and peace that surpasses all understanding. Drink him in and live! Amen.

Today we pray for…. Rev. Shana Dry

After each prayer request read:

Pastor: Lord in your mercy, All: Hear our Prayer

The Pastor will lift any prayers that have been made known to the office. You can submit a prayer request by going to http://www.tahlequahumc.org/prayerrequest After each request the pastor will respond with Lord, Hear this prayer.

Pastoral Prayer Rev. Shana Dry

The Lord’s Prayer Liturgist

ALL: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Prayer Liturgist

All: Loving God, we have been blessed with so much through your goodness. As we bring our gifts in gratitude this morning, you remind us that it doesn’t matter what we have in our lives, if we do not have love, we have nothing. This love is not the love of Valentine’s Day cards, and not even the love we feel among families, which are both rich blessings. You long for us to experience agape love – the love of the world, the love for those we don’t even know. Open our eyes and our hearts. In Christ, our teacher, we pray. Amen.

Want to learn more about how to use technology? I would love to offer my limited knowledge on helping you navigate new technologies you may have been given over Christmas. Or if you want to learn how to zoom, get emails on your phone or navigate social media. I would love to help. I would prefer a 1 on 1 approach to this because it is easier to help you better understand. Just let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

You can register to be in the class or to help with confirmation here: https://bit.ly/TUMCConfirmation22

We also have ways you can serve during confirmation.

Job Descriptions for Mentors, Table Host, Meal Providers

Mentors: Mentors will make some kind of connection with their mentee at least once, during the week. Pastor Matt will work with you on how this can be done at the training session on Jan. 30th at 5:30 p.m. You will check in with your mentee, ask them how are things, and do they have any questions about what they are learning in our sessions. At the end of our time of confirmation, you will share some incites to what you have learned about them and where they saw growth in our time during confirmation. Attending the sessions for the mentors is not required or expected but encouraged.

Table Host: Will be the small group leader of an assigned table. After the presentation, you will help your table of 4-8 confirmands dive a little deeper in the lesson. You will be provided questions and activities each week and all things needed to lead the table will be provided.

Meal Providers: We will begin the session with a simple meal at 5 p.m. At this time we do not know how many to prepare for but will know more after our meeting on Jan. 30th If you cannot make the meal but would be willing to provide funds for the meal just let me know as well.
