Invitation to Experience and Share Joy Rev. Shana Dry
In this last quarter of the year, we will work towards experiencing and sharing joy, This year we have committed to live to have hope for the future, to live in peace, to love unconditionally, and to know and share the joy of the Lord so that with God’s help we will transform the world. To know the joy of the world. Simply smile and know that God loves you. And as we worship today: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is here, let us worship the God who brings us joy in the morning.
+Opening Hymn He Is Lord UMH 177
He is Lord, he is Lord! He is risen from the dead and he is Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Centering Words : Jeremiah 18, Psalm 139 Liturgist
Liturgist: We come with praise for the wonderful works of God.
All: Even before we speak, God knows us completely.
Liturgist: The Holy One knows us and sustains us, even in our moments of confusion and doubt.
All: Who can count the thoughts of God? They are more than all the sands of the desert.
Liturgist: Like clay in the hand of the potter, we are shaped into vessels of divine will.
All: We come with praise for the wonderful works of God.
Hebrew Bible Reading Deuteronomy 30:15-20 Liturgist
We Offer Our Prayers Together
+Hymn: Are Ye Able UMH 145
1. "Are ye able," said the Master, "to be crucified with me?" "Yea," the sturdy dreamers answered, "to the death we follow thee." Lord, we are able. Our spirits are thine. Remold them, make us, like thee, divine. Thy guiding radiance above us shall be a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
4. Are ye able? Still the Master whispers down eternity, and heroic spirits answer, now as then in Galilee. Lord, we are able.
Our spirits are thine. Remold them, make us, like thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be a beacon to God, to love, and loyalty.
Prayer of Confession Liturgist
All: Holy God, we confess that we fail to put our trust in you completely. Instead, we calculate our gains and losses, hoarding the things that do not lead to abundant life. Forgive us, and help us to treasure only you, that we may follow you faithfully and discover the blessing only you can give. Amen
Declaration of Forgiveness Liturgist
Liturgist: Beloved, your sins are forgiven. Therefore, be at peace to follow the good road, for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous.
