Invitation to Experience and Share Joy Rev. Matt Franks
This year we have committed to live to have hope for the future, to live in peace, to love unconditionally, and to know and share the joy of the Lord so that with God’s help we will transform the world. In this last quarter of the year, we will work towards experiencing and sharing joy. To know how to experience and share joy: Simply smile and know that God loves you. And as we worship today: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is here, let us worship the God who brings us joy in the morning.

We Hear The Word Proclaim
Sermon Series: The Joy of A Bigger Table Sermon Title: The Empty Seat
Scripture Base: Hebrews 12:1-2
Given by Rev. Matt Franks Associate Lead Pastor at Tahlequah UMC
Service of Holy Communion
Liturgist: I invite you to the Lord’s table, prepare your hearts and minds, may the Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Liturgist: We come to your table Loving God, the table you have created, the table of those saints who have run the race and now cheer us on, the table for us. Thank you Lord, for this table.
All: Thank you Lord, for this table.
Response Hymn A Place At the Table W&S 3149
1. For everyone born, a place at the table, for everyone born, clean water and bread, a shelter, a space, a safe place for growing for everyone born, a star overhead,
Refrain: and God will delight when we are creators of justice and joy, compassion and peace: yes, God will delight when we are creators of justice, justice and joy!
Pastor: Lord We confess to you.
All: We confess that at times we forget that we, too, will be the “ancestors” of those to come. We sometimes think only of ourselves, whether our own plates will be full, whether our own needs are met. Hear the regrets of our hearts as we open ourselves to the promise of your grace and forgiveness. Call us again to be your saints today.
Moment of Silence: spend some time asking for God for forgiveness for those times you have fallen short in following God.
Pastor: Our Loving God has heard your prayer, you are forgiven. And as forgiven and freed people, we join the company of heaven, praise your name and join their unending hymn:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Pastor: Holy are you and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ. By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: "Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."
When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: "Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
All: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pastor: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed, renewed, and restored by Christ love.
We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, strengthen us to run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith, until he comes in final victory, and we feast at his heavenly banquet.
We are Sent out to love and to serve.
Holy Communion Benediction
At the guidance of the Ushers, come and receive Holy Communion and depart knowing that you are surrounded by the great cloud of witness and God is with you in every step and every breath that you take.
Thank you for joining us today in worship.
