Matt Franks Hymn: God, We Love This Congregation! Tune: Ludwig van Beethoven, 1824 ("Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee") Text: Copyright © 2021 by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette.
God, we love this congregation! On this day, we're glad to see friends and neighbors, gathered, praying, as a church community. Young and old, we join in worship — some in-person, some online. We are drawn by faith and friendship to this blessed place and time. In this year with all its trials, there are things that we have missed. Still, in Christ, you've walked beside us; by your Spirit, we've been blessed. Love's our history, love's our vision, Love's the work we're called to do. Bless us as our congregation moves together, serving you.
We Offer Our Prayers Together
Affirmation of Faith From Worship and Song #82 Liturgist Liturgist: As one body of faith let us affirm our faith. All: We are children of God. We have been water-washed and Spirit-filled. We’re dead to sin and alive in Christ. We’re done with law, and live under grace. Our hearts are set on righteousness. Our minds are fixed on life and peace. Suffering is nothing, compared to the glory to come. For we’re heirs to the life Christ is bringing! We are children of God! Hymn: Hymn of Promise UMH 707
1. In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter there's a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. 2. There's a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there's a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me. From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. 3. In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

We are so very blessed. Yet, we often think that we have so little. Some of us may even feel as though our gift is too small. Thank you for reminding us that even our mustard seed-sized gift may grow beyond our individual possibility. So, today we place before you all amounts of gifts – some quarters from children, some $1 bills from adults, some larger bills and checks – knowing that you transform our scarcity into your abundance. Change my heart, O God, may I be like you. Sermon Series: Seek Peace: Sermon Title: Seek Seeds of Peace Scripture Base: Mark 4:26-34 given by Rev. Matt Franks Lead Pastor at Tahlequah UMC An Order of Farewell to a Church Member
Pastor: The church is a family. United by the common recognition of Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are all brothers and sisters. And, for a time, Tahlequah United Methodist Church is our home. Like every human family, our church family is formed and reformed over time: as members are born, as they die, as members are adopted into our family, and as they leave our congregation for a new home, in a different place. For a time, Peggy has lived with us. We have shared with each other good times and bad, we have shared each other's joys and sorrows, we have lightened each other's heavy loads. Together we have laughed and cried, together we have worshiped and praised God, together we have lived.
Congregation: We feel sorrow in your leaving, yet we rejoice with you in anticipation of this new phase of your life. We will miss your love and support, yet we know you will add much to the lives of those who will be your new church family, as you have added much to our lives.
Congregation and pastor: We will pray for you and for the whole family of God.
Pastor: Let us pray: O God, you are the strength and the protector of your people. We humbly place in your hands Peggy of this congregation who is about to leave us. Keep and preserve them, O Lord, in all health and safety, both of body and soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Go in the peace of Christ. Our prayers go with you. Amen.

UMW NEWS
We are planning two service projects for Help in Crisis, our local women’s and children's domestic abuse shelter. The first event is Tuesday, June 1st at 10 am in the Atrium, where we will bring kitchen utensils and supplies such as silverware, pots, and pans, cooking spatulas and spoons, etc. Some of the items will stay with the shelter and some will go with the women when they leave.
On Tuesday, July 13th we will meet again to collect cleaning supplies such as buckets, detergent, bleach, mops, brooms, and cleaning rags. Everyone is welcome to participate in this project and is invited for lunch afterward at a local restaurant.
